Who We Are

WilderFutures is a Calgary-based non-profit organization, aimed at addressing intersecting social issues by empowering organizations, families, educators, and the next generation of leaders with the tools and resources they need to make meaningful change in our communities.

Our Vision

For all people and the planet, a brighter future with a culture of equality and abundance.

Our Values

Love: We care deeply for the planet, for people, and for the future. Love allows us to act in an altruistic manner. It motivates us to do good for the greater good.

Ownership: We are all-in; fully invested in the cause and fully involved from start to finish. Ownership is demonstrated by being accountable to each other and taking responsibility for our actions and inactions.

Intention: We act with purpose and are mindful of what we do and why we do it.

Growth: We don’t fear change and view experience as our greatest teacher. We acknowledge that great things come from stepping outside of our comfort zone. As the world evolves, so do we. Seeking to learn, grow, and adapt, we accept that these are all continuous, ongoing practices.

Connection: We believe that the world is beautifully interconnected and recognize that our decisions have the power to help uplift others. This enables deeper, more meaningful relationships and honest communication with our people.

  • Guiding Principles

  • We acknowledge our position as settlers on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy - the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani; the Tsuut’ina; the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations of Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley; the Métis Nation of Alberta (Region 3); and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

  • We pursue changemaking from the lens of Truth and Reconciliation.

  • We prioritize and amplify the voices of traditionally marginalized members of our community.

  • We seek first to listen and learn from knowledge keepers and leaders who are actively working in our communities.

  • We understand the intersectionality of issues and the interconnected nature of our world.
